Soy Milk Stool - Recycled Plastic
The Soy Milk Stool! Who would have though soy sauce and milk would go together?
The concept for this design came from identifying two extremes of plastic waste. One that is notoriously hard to collect & recycle and the other being the most common plastic waste in domestic life. Our aim is to combine the two plastic waste streams and build a collection system that diverts hard to recycle plastics away from landfill and into meaningful long lasting products.
We collect the soy sauce fish & milk bottles direct from members of the community. We then clean & process the plastic in house and prepare it to be melted & pressed into boards, ready to be machined and attached to the legs made from Australian sustainably sourced timber.

- The seat is made from 50x recycled 2lt milk bottles and 200 soy sauce fish
- The legs are made from ethically sourced Australian timber - Tasmanian Oak or Blackbutt
